well when i told my doctor i was having anxiety problems in combo with feeling kinda down sometimes he gave me Wellbutrin, but in terms of getting to that point you usually just have a conversation lasting about 10 minutes or so describing the way you feel, me being a young guy with a social life it was easy for him to assume i was trying to get xanax or something(wasnt)…… now that i feel mentally better and still have anxiety issues he pretty much told me life is tough and i am going to have to live in the moment and not worry about things till they present themselves, it is really hard to get a doc to believe you on anxiety issues because anxiety meds are widely abused, just watch the movie The Departed, Leo DiCaprio has his anxiety problem an he had to flip out to get meds for it, sure it is a movie but its pretty accurate on how hard it is to get them to believe you

Hi there Megan – I’m aslo named Megan, hah that’s cool.
Anyway, I did a lot of research on anxiety disorders, because I, myself was going through a lot with my severe anxiety (as well as depression and panic attacks). Honestly — don’t over-research it or go on countless of message boards like I did, if this is for you or someone you know, you/he/she already is sensitive to things and by doing that you can magnify the problem. Anxiety is very very treatable and people do recover. That’s what happened to me, researching it too much before I was diagnosed and reading into the negative factors. Medication is an option for some, depending on which route you want to take and whether you want to visit a psychologist or psychiatrist. I stopped overanalyzing my anxiety, which was increasingly getting worse, and just made an appointment with a doctor a psych professor at my school reccomended me. It was the BEST decision I have made thus far in anything, truly. I talked to my doctor about medication and he basically told me it would not get rid of the underlying anxiety issues at hand in my case, it would simply stop the symptons of my panic/anxiety and only mask it for a short time. In my research and people I have spoke to about this, anti-anxiety meds compounded with regular therapy can do wonders though.
