I get nervous in public and can hardly breath, and i panic. Now if i quit smoking and get an inhailer will this make a drastic improvement?

If your shortness of breath is due to a panic attack it probably is due to you hyperventillating and not asthma, so an inhaler may not help.
Smoking has various effects on the brain so quitting may or may not help Panic Attacks, but it would be the best thing you could do for your health in general.
See your primary care doctor who can tell if you have asthma or not and may be able to prescibe medication that can reduce or eliminate your panic attacks (like Zoloft).

Hey, im a 6th grader with panic-like attack symptoms. I have cramps a lot, and when my family isn’t near , i usually cant stand it. I have a lot of trouble with sleep overs. Now, my parents are going away for 4 days, and i can stay with someone if i can handle it, and i want to, but i dont know if can. What do i do, cause i really dont want to go?

Tell your parents what you’re feeling. Don’t be afraid to talk to them- they love you! They wouldn’t leave you in a bad situation if they knew what was going on.

*hugs*

i’ve had Panic Attacks for a while now, where i feel disconnected from reality and i freak out and my heart beats really fast. i also have been experiencing anxiety about death. not afraid i am going to die, but the fact that it’s going to happen. and the end of the world. this is odd because i am a chrisitan and i feel like recently my anxiety and panic attacks are getting in the way of my relationship with God. i am so afraid and i just want these to go away.

I think that medical weed might help with that

He mentions about a type of anxiety called GAD that keeps the sufferer in a constant state of panic all day and as a result the person feels sick with all types of chronic physical symptoms the whole day. And he says this can go on for years untill a state of solid calm returns and the symptoms goes away

Have you read that book and is it true about wot he says?

I have not read the book, but I do know a bit about Generalised Anxiety Disorder. GAD manifests itself by a whole range of symptoms such as; palpitations, sweating, trembling, dry mouth, difficulty breathing, feeling of choking, chest pain, nausea, hot flushes, muscle tension, dizziness etc etc etc, the list is quite extensive. GAD is best treated with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy rather than medication, although a mixture of the both is usually done. Many people suffer from GAD for many years and this is why CBT can be the best treatment.

How to stop panic away from my life ?

Posted by: admin | Comments (3)

I mostly get panic is it about anxiety ?

Hi there;

Ummm well one thing for sure i suggest you go to your doctor that’s what i did.
The doctor examined my well being and by that i mean he like asked me question’s about my life and examined my stress level.
With that being he decided to send me to a Health Educator who showed me techniques to deal with anxiety and panick attacks.
Also there is the option of medication but i would use that as a last resort for the simple fact that you wouldn’t want to depend on medication to get through a day (get me)

I really suggest you go to a doctor that’s the only way you will get help i seriously was at the point of going crazy, was stuck in the emergency room twice, and spent my day’s in fear.

Now a couple of month’s almost a year later i feel WAY better and honestly feel like my normal self once again.

Yoga works wonder’s and relaxation cd’s too.
Staying busy is a mega plus and doing exercise makes you fit and more relaxed.

i’ve read over thier main web site many times and i can’t figure out how you combat Panic Attacks. thanks

I found Panic Away to be very helpful.

When you start reading through Panic Away, you’ll learn about the One Move technique, which is a method you can employ to control and, with practice, eliminate panic attacks from your life. The basic idea of it is that you should stop resisting the panic attack symptoms and allow yourself to feel frightened and anxious. Most of the time resisting a panic attack just makes it worse.

The book breaks the One Move down into a step-by-step routine that is easy to follow. It is a recommended that you practice this before you feel a panic attack coming on. Practice makes perfect and if you have practiced the One Move a few times, you’ll be more prepared to deal with a panic attack when you start to feel anxiety creeping in.

Since panic attacks can be very unique from one person to another, the Panic Away book also covers how to apply the One Move to other scenarios in a much broader context, so, even if the source of your anxiety isn’t directly covered, you’ll be given instructions on how to address it.

When you buy Panic Away, you are also given the e-mail address of Barry Joe McDonagh, the creator of Panic Away, so if you find yourself getting stuck anywhere along the way, you can always reach out and get personal help from him. I found the book itself to be very clear, and I never needed the coaching, but it’s good to know that it’s there to make sure you can get the most out of the program.

Panic away from home?

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

I feel a little embarrassed about this, but staying away from home overnight is really stressful to me.

Its got to the point now where I just won’t go on holiday. Last year I went to Spain, and as soon as I got there, I was extremely ill, my stomach bloated to 3x its size and I ended up in a Spanish hospital where they told me my intestines had gone ‘into shock and filled with water.’ I was left totally feeling in the dark with no reasons for how that happened. I’m beginning to wonder if it had anything to do with that as soon as I go there I wanted to leave, its not like I was in control of it, it was more of an uncontrollable feeling of sadness that I was away from home.

I’m not too bad when it is only a night away, but anything more and i get very panicky. I’ve had Panic Attacks before, because I have allergies to certain foods that trigger them, but this is different because I didn’t eat anything that could of set it off.

I even had to come home from a school trip once which was so embarrassing, but I couldn’t explain to people that it just makes me really unhappy, shakey, head-achy and severely sick, as well as panic attacks.

does anyone have any ideas as to what this is, because I feel so stupid about it. Or maybe a method of calming down? I’m 15 so this is holding me back a little. thank you :)

Part of what you are experiencing might be from simply being in the middle of puberty. Hormone imbalances directly affect a person’s mood.

However, regardless of the cause there are medications that can ease the symptoms of panic attacks.

Visit your Primary Care Physician and discuss your symptoms in detail. They can prescribe an anxiolytic (reduces anxiety) medication to eliminate your panic on your next trip.

I hope you resolve this: it is a beautiful world, and it would be a shame if you allow this to keep you from seeing it.

Joe Barrys "Panic Away" does it work?

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

does this technique work, just wondering what it is and if anyone has used it. Panic is not a major issue as it was but I still suffer from anxiety.

Like a lot of methods, its works for some, but not for all!
