If you just feel dizzy when you see or talk about something gross, it may not be a panic attack - it's just that you are sensitive to gross or disgusting stuff.
I think you already made the fist step - you are aware that your fear is irrational which is great. When you find yourself in that situation again, try to calm yourself down, reassure yourself that what you're feeling is normal, but that it won't hurt you.
Maybe some technique to get your mind of that "gross or disgusting" thing can help you?
References :
http://panicattackrelieftreatment.weebly.com

No regular treatment is needed if you have just an occasional panic attack. You may find it helpful to:

    1. understand about panic attacks, and the cause of the symptoms.
    2. know that any physical symptoms which occur do not mean that you have a serious disease. For example, some people find it helpful to know that the palpitations or chest pains they had during a panic attack were not due to a heart or chest problem.
    3. know how to deal with a panic attack (see above).

If you have frequent or recurring panic attacks, this is called panic disorder. Treatment to prevent panic attacks is an option if you develop panic disorder. See a separate leaflet called 'Panic Disorder'.
References :
http://www.fightingpanicattacks.com/

I have 2 answers, I wrote about them both on my site so I won't regurgitate them here, click on my source links.

Keep in mind that panic attacks are solvable with the education and techniques, I did it and many others.
References :
http://www.TheMeditationMind.com/cure-panic-attacks.html

You want to be in the medical field because you secretly want to put yourself in a tough situation and conquer it.

Gross things are not deadly. They may smell bad, may look gross, but as long as you don't reach down and pick up that throw up and put it in your mouth, you'll be fine. It won't jump up into your face. Even if it does, we put so much gross stuff into our bodies all the time. Exercise...it sweats out all those gross particles.
